Colts vs. Texans Pick: Take the Points With Indianapolis

Two winless AFC South teams meet at Lucas Oil Stadium, but urgency alone does not favor either side. Indianapolis gets the home field and the points against a Houston offense missing important pieces. We like the Colts to keep this competitive, with a credible path to winning outright.

Official FSP Play: Indianapolis Colts +2 (-110) — ★★★ — 1 Unit at Risk.

Houston Has More to Replace Than a Receiver

Nico Collins is out with a hamstring injury, taking a major target away from C.J. Stroud. Starting guard Ed Ingram is also out, and tackle Trent Brown enters the game questionable. Fewer reliable options downfield and uncertainty up front can make sustaining drives more difficult when Houston falls behind the chains.

The Texans scored just six points against Cincinnati last week. We are not assuming a repeat, but there are reasons to question laying points on the road with this version of Houston’s offense.

Taylor Gives the Colts a Way to Stay Balanced

Indianapolis took Kansas City to overtime in a 33–30 loss. Jonathan Taylor contributed 92 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Daniel Jones threw for 210 yards. The Colts showed they could move the ball and compete in a difficult road setting.

Taylor’s involvement is central to our case. Productive early-down touches would help Indianapolis avoid turning every possession into a test of its pass protection against Houston’s defensive front. The Colts need manageable third downs and balance, not a game built around Jones repeatedly escaping pressure.

Why Take the Points?

At +2, an Indianapolis win or a one-point loss cashes, while a two-point loss pushes. We expect a competitive division game and prefer that protection to requiring an outright victory.

The Risk: Indianapolis Still Has to Defend

The Colts have allowed 74 points through two games, including overtime in Kansas City. Houston’s injuries do not automatically fix those defensive problems. Cornerback Charvarius Ward is questionable, and Indianapolis is without wide receiver Alec Pierce and receiver/special-teamer Ashton Dulin.

If Houston’s defense disrupts Jones and creates short fields, the Texans can win without a big passing performance. That is the strongest argument against this pick and keeps our stake at one unit.

FSP Verdict

We favor taking points with the home team against a Houston offense dealing with significant personnel losses. Indianapolis has enough offensive balance to make this a close game, and +2 gives us more than one way to get a favorable result.

Indianapolis Colts +2 (-110) — Three Stars — 1 Unit at Risk.
